Red Kite Studio is Martin Levan's residential recording facility set in his tranquil private estate on the border of the Brecon Beacons.
Martin’s recording expertise and wealth of experience across numerous genres have enabled him to create a distinctive facility providing artists with the opportunity to produce exceptional music in a unique setting.
Red Kite Studio is located on a beautiful Welsh hillside. With its welcoming on-site accommodation, it offers an unparalleled creative space that is at once energizing, inspirational and relaxing. Musicians who record here can focus wholly on performance and on their own unique artistic vision, completely free from the interference and the demands of their daily lives.

"I wanted to design a studio that would minimise creative barriers between musicians by enabling them to work in as dynamic and natural sounding an environment as possible." - Martin Levan
Both the control room and the live room benefit from vaulted ceilings with plenty of natural daylight and the extensive use of glass between the control room and the live room provides excellent communication between the musicians, the engineer and the producer.
Oak and maple is used throughout, contributing to the organic feel and the rich warm sound achieved here.
There is a well-proportioned isolation booth, also with its own natural daylight and good visibility into the live room.
The control room and live room each measure approximately 450 sq ft and the isolation booth, around 55 sq ft.
There is an excellent selection of microphones available, including a unique vintage Neumann U47.
The main monitors have been custom designed with processing by Dolby Lake Linear Phase FIR crossover technology and room optimised by Trinnov ST2 Pro. Six individual stereo cue feeds are provided through to the live room giving ample and flexible control for musicians' foldback.
Adjacent to the control room is a small kitchen, where our own spring water is on tap for making tea and coffee. Snacks can be prepared here and homemade cakes have been known to appear as if by magic.
